TRAINING AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISE MANAGER

REPORTS TO: PACE CEO
JOB LOCATION: Dublin
WORKING HOURS *-hour week
CONTRACT: Three-year initial fixed term contract
PROBATION PERIOD: 6 months

ABOUT PACE:

PACE is a voluntary sector organisation that works in the community
with people with criminal convictions. PACE provides a wide range of
services to support the safe integration of this client group into the
community.

PACE works from a strengths-based approach to address the support
needs of people with criminal records to develop a pro-social identity
based around their non-offending behaviour. PACE provides training,
work experience and employment for people under probation supervision
who are completing community service, community returns, community
employment and temporary release from prison. PACE also provides
employment for people with criminal records through CSP scheme.

ABOUT PACE TRAINING AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

The core objective of PACE Training and Social Enterprise is to
support people with criminal convictions to enter the labour market.
PACE provides a wide range of training and educational options and
PACE social enterprise create jobs and work experience for people who
have experienced prison or probation. Our goal is to prepare people
for progressing into mainstream employment and also to positively help
change the attitudes of potential employers and communities towards
former prisoners who are working hard to change their lives.

TRAINING

PACE provide a range of training options including woodwork,
metalwork, powder-coating, horticulture, art and design,
communications, interpersonal and computer skills. PACE has
classrooms, workshops and horticulture gardens located in Santry, D9,
and Priorswood, D *.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
MANUFACTURING

PACE manufactures outdoor furniture, garden and street planters all of
which are designed and produced in our woodwork and metalwork
workshops by our Social Enterprise trainees and employees.

MUGSHOT

The Mugshot Coffee Business provides training and employment for
people with criminal convictions who wish to work in the hospitality
industry. Currently Mugshots are located at Four Courts, D1,
Bridgefoot St Park, D8 and Cloverhill Courthouse, D**Apply on the
website**.

ROLE: TO LEAD, MANAGE AND FURTHER DEVELOP PACE TRAINING AND SOCIAL
ENTERPRISE.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

SERVICE DELIVERY

* Liaise with Probation Services to promote PACE as a solution to
the training, work experience and employment requirements of their
client base.
* Work with Probation Services to design and implement effective
training and work experience solutions for their clients who are under
probation supervision – community service, community returns,
temporary release or full release.
* Liaise with Irish Prisons Services to promote PACE within prison
system.
* Oversee the provision of key-working and support for PACE
participants.
* Liaise with local community services in the area to ensure wrap
around supports are available for PACE participants.
* To build positive working relationships with all stakeholders of
the social enterprise.
* Work with management team to provide best service for shared
clients.
* Oversee maintenance of training and social enterprise sites.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS

* Develop and manage PACE social enterprise as an income generating
entity.
* Manage a diverse team to achieve the social enterprise objectives
and business plan.
* Proactively seek opportunities to grow business through developing
existing enterprises, diversification, tender and funding applications
and business proposals.
* Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential
customers.
* Oversee production, manufacturing processes and delivery of
services.
* Oversee marketing and promotion activities
* Produce necessary documentation including financial and business
planning reports for CEO, Board and funders.

MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS

* Provide reports and statistics periodically to CEO.
* Participate in regular management meetings.
* Encourage and enable staff development and training.
* Support CEO and Board of Management in pursuit of PACE mission and
strategic Direction.
* Work in line with all of the organisational policies and
procedures.
* To be a constant and consistent mentor for participants, staff and
volunteers.
* Support all corporate governance requirements of the company and
manage the adherence to all internal financial transactions and
recording procedures.
* Maintain health and safety procedures and standards.
* Participate in Management team on-call rota when needed.

TRAINING AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISE MANAGER PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

* Qualified to degree level in a relevant area e.g. social work,
social care, sociology, social sciences, community, addiction,
business or finance.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

* Minimum three years’ experience of working in a management role
supervising & line managing staff
* Experience in developing links and working in partnership with
other agencies is essential
* Good business acumen.
* A track record of managing finances, understanding and preparing
budgets and forecasts.

Desirable

* Experience of working with people from minority communities
* Knowledge of criminal justice system.
* Knowledge of factors that impact people with criminal convictions
* Knowledge of social enterprise landscape in Ireland
* Experience of funding applications
* An interest in training & education
